TRODUSQUEMINE

Trodusquemine is a selective, non-competitive inhibitor of the enzyme protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTB1B), a well-recognized target for a range of therapy areas. Prior failures to develop PTP1B inhibitors have been due to safety issues stemming from a lack of selectivity versus other tyrosine phosphatases and a focus on inhibition of the enzyme at its active site; the trodusquemine molecule binds to and interacts with the enzyme at a different site. Trodusquemine shows considerable potential in treating insulin resistant pre-diabetic and diabetic patients.
